Hohomana Zuni Kachina Girl
This mana is imported from Zuni. Accompanies the Hemis kachinas in the Niman Kachina Dance. It is unsure in its performance if it is a maiden or a man. It alternates its behavior between the two. One moment it behaves as a woman and the next act like a man. The doll was more popular in the past than it is today. It is represented in some quantity in older collections.
Black case with white eyes and white zigzag nose marks. Cloth ruff, women's dress with maiden's shawl. Carrying white and blue corn.
Carved from cottonwood root. Stands 9 3/4 inches tall.
